“Man is the only creature that consumes without producing.  He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits.  Yet he is lord of all the animals.”  -George Orwell, Animal Farm.

Human being is the top on the bio-diversities food chain; he is the prime predator, the world’s renowned hunter. He may not have claws and jaws as powerful as those of the king of the jungle, nor a super strength as those of the elephants, he may not swim the deep seas, nor fly the open air but he had always proven that his mind is powerful enough to overcome his deficits.

He had defeated the roaming monsters in the ancient times and even brought it to their extinction. From being nomads to permanent settlers, our ancestors have cultivated the lands, burn the forests and turn it into rice fields and even domesticated wild animals for their food and services.

Since then man controls everything, human multiply rapidly, he put the lower creation in captivity, he abuse them, he eat them, he experimented them, he uses them for leisure’s and for his own interest.

As an aspiring journalist someday, how can I assure that my dream is worth fulfilling in a university so called, Bicol University?

College of Arts and Letters (CAL) is just one of the few colleges in the Philippines that offer a degree in Journalism, maybe because of the few demand in its graduate, but still there are many students who dreamed to be a Journalist someday.

We are all bounded in the belief that gaining education and having a professional career is the route to our personal fulfillment, our parents sends us to school and do their very best to support us for our study, give financial support to our projects and support us emotionally for us to overcome the difficulties in college and have a good future someday.

Dreams, dedication and financial support are the main key to graduate, but life doesn’t end after the Graduation Ceremony. The next chapter to it is the work proper, in this part all of the graduate's knowledge and skills are tested and they will apply all the things they have studied in the field of journalism. Now it was the time that you and your employer will judge you for the way you work, the way you handle the situation especially when you are in a coverage.

In the long history of the Philippines, the death penalty was known and accepted fact. The code of Kalantiao, the oldest recorded body of laws of our early ancestors showed the strictness under the barangay that existed and based their moral acceptance of right and wrong. For example, anyone caught stealing would be penalized by suffering the loss of finger.

The graver the theft, the more fingers were cut and if the theft was very grave, the hands was chopped off, therefore it is understandable that even in the Early periods of our history there are certain punishment for a offense, that even the code of Kalantiao imposed death penalty for rape and murder that is considered as heinous crime.

Today, the State itself has different punishment opposite to its offence, our legislators implement and pass a Bill that will sentenced a grave offender of crime, one of it is the Republic Act No. 7659 or the Death Penalty Act which gathers many controversies on its implementation, according to this act a criminal who has been proven guilty to a heinous crime with the proper due process of law will be executed.

“Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts” -Arnold Bennett.

Every minute and every second counts in this fast growing world with almost all things are accompanied with computer and the fast demand for the natural resources which in return damage ourselves and our home- Earth.

When we were young we act and dress like a teenager, but when we started going to adulthood we always wish to go back to our childhood days. We are not contented always leading us to find new way and better living.

Computers are everywhere when you go to the groceries and malls the computer is the one counting your bills, the computer shops are everywhere. Youngsters are more aware of the internet and the cyber world. They use different social networking sites and video sharing sites.

I used to remember my childhood days and as I realize I hope to freeze the time there and just enjoy it.

"Perhaps love at first sight is more a case of lust at first smell." Yes, believe it or not, our sense of smell does a major role in choosing our partner and the so called love at first sight.

On our everyday routine we meet different faces, the half may be familiar while the half was simply strangers. In this strangers the chance of falling in love is always half percent, while the other half was simply those who did not grab your attention.

When men say they are in love, it means that they are attracted physically to a woman with neither a beautiful face, sexy body nor a beautiful smile but nothing follows. Without even knowing the girl, guy’s do in love easily.

On the other hand when women say they are in love, it is love. Girl’s unlike guy’s experience an extreme surge of affection by the time she meet the guy of her dream. There are instances that she may be the one to find a way and will be doing the first move.

Jerry Barican quoted “But while in relative terms today’s press looks tolerable, in absolute terms, it is a national disgrace”, although the press itself gains much trust and sympathy of the public on the other hand  it is also a shame that disgrace our country through its malpractices and misuse by political practitioners to cover up their anomalies. As he also said “Worse people believe in the case of some papers, one can pay one’s way not only to the editorial pages but to the front page itself”, media practitioners also who uses their right and power to create a story to cover up those anomalies. Huge businessmen and politicians handle and owned a news publication, radio station and even television network and uses it as their immunity and hide their malpractices.

Media killing, harassment, exploitation are the often things they do to those media man who do not engage with what they want, these huge corporations and names uses their influence to stop the media man in writing the truth. While some journalist protect and maintain their name and credibility it could not be denied that there are hidden agendas and transaction before the newsprint is published. A one sided reporting that often favors their profitable interest thus in return they gain money. Journalists also manipulate the story by making their opinions as news stories which is composed of their biased opinions.

We Filipinos always proved the whole world that we own the title as one of the most happiest persons in the whole world. We can do jokes in despite of the fear that we face, and we could easily cope up from time when disaster such as flood strikes and smile has always been an asset to it.

Filipino family would comfort and protect each other and would never leave each other in times of trouble. One for all and all for one, that's how cooperative we Filipinos are.

And love is always in the air that nobody suppress these two couples in their wedding not even the bad weather.
