Jerry Barican quoted “But while in relative terms today’s press looks tolerable, in absolute terms, it is a national disgrace”, although the press itself gains much trust and sympathy of the public on the other hand  it is also a shame that disgrace our country through its malpractices and misuse by political practitioners to cover up their anomalies. As he also said “Worse people believe in the case of some papers, one can pay one’s way not only to the editorial pages but to the front page itself”, media practitioners also who uses their right and power to create a story to cover up those anomalies. Huge businessmen and politicians handle and owned a news publication, radio station and even television network and uses it as their immunity and hide their malpractices.

Media killing, harassment, exploitation are the often things they do to those media man who do not engage with what they want, these huge corporations and names uses their influence to stop the media man in writing the truth. While some journalist protect and maintain their name and credibility it could not be denied that there are hidden agendas and transaction before the newsprint is published. A one sided reporting that often favors their profitable interest thus in return they gain money. Journalists also manipulate the story by making their opinions as news stories which is composed of their biased opinions.

Press is considered as the fourth state of the government and its role and duty is to watch and hear what the government is doing whether it is good or bad, if the media will unchecked the corruption which is rampantly done by the public officials, in this way the press promotes rather than retards corruption, and drives away the honest from the public sector. It also distorts public policy and debate. And making the people untrusted with the government as well as the press which is supposedly the eyes and mouth on the government.

If and only if the media and the government will strongly implement their duties and responsibilities, and the government will give the appropriate sanctions and charges against the corrupt officials, personalities and corporations and thus the media will directly reflect the event to every Filipino, thus it’s a mutual relationship a strong bond that will fight the malpractices of some. Both of them will get the real sympathy and trust that will be a strong weapon for our countries progress.
