The 5,000 years existence of the city of Damascus in Syria has been witness to the very important event in human history, and in the near future it will once again play a major role that will change the course of the world history. Lying in the western part of Asia surrounded by its neighboring country; Turkey on the North, Iraq on the East, Jordan on the South, Lebanon, Cyprus and Israel on the West, the city of Damascus is the oldest and continuously inhabited city and one of the premiere city in the world.
Prophet Isaiah provides us the prophecy of what was going to happen to the prime city, and some of this has been partially fulfilled and its fulfillment will be happening in the near future. Chapter 17 of the book of Isaiah reveals a startling verses; “Behold, Damascus is taken away from [being] a City and it shall be a ruinous heap.” It was clearly said that the city will become a heap of ruins and will be devoid of human life as it become home for the wild animals. It was also clearly prophesized that the fortified cities of Israel will also be destroyed. Some cities will also be deserted but not the same manner as what will happen to Damascus, it will be that some will escape because of fear and those who chooses to inhabit will be suffering poverty.

While Damascus and Israel lie in ruin, their enemy will view it as opportunity to invade the territory and they are aiming to destroy it forever. As a result of this burden, the people will once again turn to their real God, and turn away from their false idols and gods. Those who remain in Damascus and other destroyed city will be shared by the same belief by the Israeli in the northern cities. Though invasion is rising God will be protecting those people by destroying the invaders himself. And the people will be realizing that they are with the true God. These invaders are armies from Jordan, the West bank, Lebanon, Syria and Gaza which happen to be the neighboring country of Israel and some invaders will be soon rising as mentioned in the Book of Ezekiel 38-39.
Today Damascus is facing political crisis and Syria has been demanding that Israel must surrender the Golan Heights, and if not threatening war against Israel and the leaders from Damascus is confident to beat up Israel by the use of rockets. Syria is also known to posses chemical weapons. While Israel is also ready to do an offensive move against Syria because of their nuclear weapons. If this conflict will not be resolved, a world war will be arising and it has been proven that war has no good consequences, that it will just add another problem to the government and to the people. As it is said the prophecy is not yet fulfilled many names and countries will be soon involved, but one thing the bible can promise, it will never break his prophecy, it will happen no matter how long it is.
