Men and women who have become strangers to themselves can no longer return for sustenance to the springs of their own being. According to C. Wright Mills “The Promise”, what occurs in any one individual’s life is interrelated with society as a whole. The sociological imagination gives us the ability to understand the correlation of one’s biography, history, and traditions along with knowledge of the social and historical impact and influence society may have on that person or group of people. Mills’ notion compels us to investigate into an individual’s biography and lifestyles, and place their findings within the surrounding circumstances in which events occur in order to perceive the whole picture of the society in which the individual lives.

We all live in a society that could affect our lifestyle directly. In my case, I’m having hard time to cope up with my different problems and troubles. But eventually, I realized that these issues have brought to me as part of my life. I could say that history affects my whole being in a society. My way of living has something to do with the history in society that I lived in. The social factor that influences my experience is my Economic Status in society. I’m not from a well-off family. My father’s income is just enough to provide and satisfy our everyday needs. They can send me in school with the help of my siblings. Society in a reality sense, is structured to benefit a few at the expense of the majority acting as an arena of inequality, I can feel it as a part of those low-class majority. We are struggling for limited resources. It causes some people in a society to be dominant, and we, to be oppressed. And it would be biased to treat people based on their economic status.
Every one of us must expect to encounter reverses, but we will continue to look forward with a sense of expectancy. Difficulties show us what we are made of. The first rule for coping with frustrations is to expect your full share of them. They are incidental to daily living. They are like the sand traps on a golf course, put there so that you may prove your skill. Values and the way in which people rely on each other help to unify the society.
